Learn : Half Marathon Story

Running Background:

marathon photoI consider myself a beginner runner and I primarily run for competition. I decided to run a half marathon because my sister-in-law talked us into it.

Training:

I didn't follow a specific training plan. It is definitely worth it to train. I fractured a bone in my foot from being out of (running) shape.

Race Day:

I loved the race. I like that the course is slowly downhill. I really could have used another drink station btwn mile 3 and 7 (I think those were the miles, it's been awhile). I also heard this from a few other competitors. Other than that, it was great! AWESOME SNACKS AT THE END (and I think that beer at the end saved my life!)

Recovery:

My recovery was terrible. I became hyponytremic, so I tried to get all of the salt I could immediately after the symptoms set in. I also had bad shoes and therefore had bad blisters! Then I went to the Dr. about 3 weeks after the race because my foot was hurting and found out I fractured my foot...next time I WILL TRAIN!

Tips/Words of Encouragement:

Make sure you're properly trained!

Plans to Run Another:

I'm planning to run another half marathon. The next time I'm going to TRAIN!
