Learn : Half Marathon Story

Running Background:

I consider myself a beginner runner and I primarily run for fitness. I started running to lose weight, which I did, but I enjoyed being out on long runs so much, I just stuck with it.

Training:

I used the Runner's World Smart Coach to create a training program. I trained for 5 months and I averaged 16 miles per week.

The best advice I received during my training was that the long runs are the most important run of the week. Don't skip them...

Race Day:

The 2006 Crazy Horse Half Marathon was better than expected. It was a fun race, downhill on a nice, soft trail. Starting at Crazy Horse Memorial was beautiful and the race is unique in that the Mt. Rushmore course runners merged with us around mile 10 to the finish.

Recovery:

I didn't have any problems with my recovery.

Running Gear Recommendations:

ASICS Gel-Kinsei Running Shoes
I only run in ASICS Gel Kinsei's...they are the best!
